Onto the most significant developments of the week that went by…

California State Teachers Retirement System (CalSTRS), the second-largest pension fund in the US, has been continuously decreasing its exposure to China amid exacerbating geopolitical tensions. China fell off the pension fund’s list of top 10 countries where it has the highest market value and revenue exposure as of May 31, 2023.

French private equity major Ardian is exploring an Asia-focused fund strategy to capture rising opportunities in the region’s secondary market, according to its Singapore-based managing director Won Ha.

US private market giant Ares Management sees India as a core market as it ramps up its presence in Asia following the recent buyout of Crescent Point Capital, a Singapore-based private equity firm that manages about $3.8 billion in assets.

Private equity giant Hillhouse has agreed to acquire Harneys Fiduciary, the fiduciary business of offshore law firm Harneys, for an undisclosed amount.
